And now we wait!

Today was the last day of school and we left an empty, white and uninspiring classroom behind. We've placed orders for furniture and made decisions (and it wasn't easy) but we're confident that we've designed an awesome space!  We called on design experts and looked to our best district personnel for guidance.  We have to leave the building and go on summer break.  We will check on the status of the orders, the progress of the paint and physical changes to the room, but really it's just a waiting game.

Thanks to a PTO grant for the book, Kara and I are reading The Third Teacher over the summer and plan to explore the insight with others in our district, like MJ Warden, Director of Innovation and Instructional Technology and our Instructional Technology Coach, Megan Preis.  We'll jump into research and get together over the summer to plan for the exciting changes we've embraced.  And we'll keep you posted along the way although it might not be weekly. Like any documented transformation, here are the before pics of the room. Have a wonderful summer!
